What are Apple Pay & Google Pay?
Apple Pay & Google Pay are digital wallets that allow your customers to pay quickly and conveniently. Payment details – for example a stored credit or debit card – are securely saved in the respective wallet and automatically transmitted during checkout.
Instead of entering payment information manually, customers confirm the payment directly on their smartphone, tablet, or computer – depending on the device via Face ID, Touch ID, or device lock. This reduces checkout abandonment and provides a simple and seamless user experience.
For you as a vendor, the processing is just as secure as with other card payments: The transaction is processed by your payment provider, and you receive the funds as usual via Digistore24.
How do I enable Apple Pay & Google Pay as a payment method?
Go to the settings of the respective product and add Apple Pay & Google Pay as a payment method (see Set payment methods).
Note
Apple Pay & Google Pay are available as a payment method for the cart builder order form and the cart builder multi-step order box. If you are still using the classic or responsive order form types, we recommend switching to the cart builder. For Apple Pay & Google Pay to be displayed in the multi-step order box, your website must be whitelisted. Apple Pay & Google Pay vs. Apple Pay & Google Pay (Express Checkout) – what's the difference?
Apple Pay & Google Pay come in two variants that mainly differ in where the payment is initiated in the checkout and how many form fields the customer needs to complete.
-
Apple Pay & Google Pay
This version works like a regular payment method in the order form. The customer selects the wallet payment option in the payment section and then completes the purchase as usual. The full order form is displayed.
-
Apple Pay & Google Pay (Express Checkout)
The Express Checkout allows for an especially fast purchase: The customer can confirm the order with one click at the very beginning of the checkout. The order form is largely skipped because Apple Pay or Google Pay automatically transmits the required data such as billing address and payment details. This enables a very fast purchase completion and can increase conversions.
Both variants use the same secure payment processing but differ in flow and user guidance.

Which payment types do Apple Pay & Google Pay support?
Apple Pay & Google Pay support both one-time payments and recurring payments (subscriptions or installment plans).
Do additional fees apply if customers pay with Apple Pay or Google Pay?
No, beyond the usual margin, there are no additional fees for you as a vendor when customers pay with Apple Pay or Google Pay.
Can upsells also be paid with Apple Pay & Google Pay?
Yes, customers can also pay for upsells, add-ons, and order bumps with Apple Pay or Google Pay. However, one-click upsells may not always be possible.
Why is the billing address overwritten by Apple Pay & Google Pay (Express Checkout)?
When customers pay with the express checkout version of Apple Pay or Google Pay, these services automatically send the billing address stored in the respective wallet. The order form is therefore not used, this behavior is intended by the payment providers.
If a different billing address should be used, customers must first update it in their Apple Pay wallet or Google Pay wallet and then complete the purchase.
If this causes confusion during checkout, you can experiment with the placement of the payment widget in the cart builder. For example, placing it above the address fields can improve user guidance and help avoid misunderstandings.
