Payment plan is one of the most important settings for your product, where you define the price and payment method. It is particularly important to choose the type(s) of payment for your product:
-
One-time payment: The product is paid for in a single payment.
-
Installment payment: The total product price is not paid all at once but in installments. Note the difference between a time-limited subscription and an installment payment. More information can be found here.
-
Subscription: A product with this payment type is paid for at regular intervals to receive a regular or ongoing service. A subscription typically has an indefinite duration.

Note
When selling online courses, customers receive access to the member area after payment, where they can access the course. If set up, this is done automatically via IPN (Instant Payment Notification). This means Digistore24 informs the member area about the successful payment and the course is unlocked.
For subscriptions, Digistore24 also informs the member area when the subscription ends, so access is automatically closed after the paid period.
For one-time payments and time-limited subscriptions, Digistore24 only initially informs the member area about the payment, but not about the end of the paid period. To close access after the paid period, a setting is required in the member area.
For one-time payments and time-limited subscriptions, the course in the member area must be configured to close access after the paid period. Otherwise, access remains open. Most member areas (e.g., Digibiz24) allow you to limit a course's access time so that access is automatically closed after a number of days you specify. For example, if your sales offer is valid for 30 days, limit the course access to 30 days so that access is closed 30 days after purchase without further action and regardless of Digistore24.
If you want to offer the same course as an unlimited subscription for ongoing access, the time limit does not work! Instead, copy the course (without a time limit) and sell the copy as a separate Digistore24 product with its own subscription payment plan. On your sales page, you can display both courses with their respective purchase buttons and indicate that one is a one-time purchase with limited access and the other is a subscription with ongoing access.

Want to stop payments?
As a vendor, you can independently stop and restart recurring payments, i.e., subscriptions and installment payments, using the button in the transaction details (under reports > transactions).
Important note:
Please note that if you have multiple payment plans and thus multiple prices, an average price will be displayed on the marketplace if you have not entered a value in the displayed sales price field in the settings of your marketplace entry. To specify a sales price there, go to marketplace > edit offer for affiliates, click on the pencil icon of the corresponding entry, and activate the specify sales price yourself option.
5. Change product price retroactively
Note that if you change your product price retroactively, i.e., after orders have already been placed, this change will only apply to future orders. To change your product price, follow the instructions described here.
6. Net price/gross price: price display on the order form
The way the price you set in the payment plan is displayed depends on the following settings:
-
Net price or gross price?
-
Display VAT – yes or no?
Net price or gross price?
The price on your order form can be displayed either as a net price or a gross price. If you select the net prices option in all prices are..., the share and commissions of your affiliates are fixed. The VAT is added – depending on the buyer's country and product type. Since different buyer countries have different VAT rates, customers pay different final prices depending on the buyer's country. If you select gross prices, there is a fixed final price that is the same for all customers – regardless of the buyer's country and product type. Here, your share and the commissions of your affiliates vary, as the VAT amount is different and deducted from the gross final amount before the commission payout.
Display VAT – yes or no?
In the field below, in display VAT on order form, you can decide whether to display the VAT amount on the order form or not. If you choose yes, the net price, the VAT amount, and the gross final price will be displayed on the order form. If you choose no, the gross final price with the note "price includes statutory country-specific VAT" will be displayed on the order form.
