Payout: Set method and currency

The Payout method determines the way in which your earnings are paid out. With the Payout currency, you determine whether your money will be paid out in euros or dollars.

Good to know
As part of the requirements for payouts, this article will teach you how to set the method and currency for payouts.

Payout methods

The following payout methods are available:

  • PayPal
  • SEPA transfer
  • US transfer (ACH payment)
  • International transfer

Good to know
If you choose PayPal as your payout method, a one-time setup fee of 1.00 € / 1.00$ / 1.00£ will be charged. See also fees for PayPal payouts.

Payout currency

Digistore24 cannot perform any currency conversions. However, Digistore24 will pay out your earnings in the currency you choose. For example, you can have your earnings from purchases made in euros paid out in dollars.

There are no separate charges for converting the fees into other currencies. The only thing is that we cannot use the official exchange rate. Instead, we have to include a small safety margin to cover the risk of exchange rate fluctuations.

a. Sales vs. Resellers

Payouts can be made in the currency of the order. Alternatively, you can specify that the payout is to be made in a different currency in the payout target. Then the charges are considered to be agreed in the selected currency.

This is not possible for:

  • Joint ventures of the "Help with product creation" type (so that the fee is an assigned claim of the vendor of the sale). This is because we cannot perform currency conversion as we do not have a banking license.
  • Installment payments with outstanding receivables. This is because it is too difficult to remunerate installments in currencies other than the purchase due to fluctuating exchange rates.

If you do not select a payout method, no payout can be made to you.

US vendors want their earnings to be paid in US dollars and not in euros - even if the sales were generated in euros: for example, a German customer buys a US vendor's product and pays in euros. For tax reasons, the vendor must also receive their commission in euros.

This is why there is the option of a currency conversion. The vendor can specify the currency into which their commissions are to be converted under Account → Payout account. A currency conversion then takes place as part of the payout process.

Sales from installment payments and assigned claims (as part of joint ventures) are never converted. i.e. for them there is then another payment in the initial currency, if necessary.

How to determine the payout method

Sales exclusively through the reseller Digistore24 GmbH

Good to know
 

  • Your payout can only be made through the reseller Digistore24 GmbH.
  • The following payout methods are the only ones available to you:
    • PayPal
    • SEPA bank transfer
    • Worldwide bank transfer
  1. Open in the vendor view Settings > Payout account.
  2. Make the following selections:
Field Selection Notes
For turnover in currencies 
 		 Select which of the currencies you want to be paid to your account,
e.g. EUR, GBP, CHF 		This is relevant only if your customers pay in different currencies.
Reseller Digistore24 GmbH Since the sales are made exclusively through Digistore24 GmbH, the payout can only be made through this reseller.
Payout method Choose between:
a. PayPal
b. SEPA bank transfer
c. Worldwide bank transfer 		US bank transfer is only not available for sales via Digistore24 GmbH.
The payout... 


 		 ....is made in the currency of the purchase One payout is made per currency. So if you choose 3 currencies, you will receive one payout per currency.
...is made in the currency set for your account

Click the user icon in the upper right corner and Edit account details to select the currency in the Default currency field, e.g. EUR

As the payout is to be made in your default currency, e.g. EUR, your USD earnings will be converted to EUR when the payout is made. We use the value on that day for this purpose.


 
...happens in EUR/ USD/GBP/CHF This is where your earnings are paid out in the selected currency. For example, if you have USD earnings and your payout is to be made in EUR, a currency conversion is carried out upon payout. We use the value on that day for this purpose.

Test cases

No payout despite payout account

In such cases, it is possible that not all sales will be paid out. Namely:

  • if sales as described above are in a currency e.g. in USD
  • the payout account is specified to be paid out in another currency (e.g. EUR).

The solution is to create another payout account for the initial currency.
