Starting from 04/01/2019, we will switch PayPal payouts from individual transfers (via "Send Money") to mass payments (via "Mass Pay").
This affects you if you have set PayPal as your payout method for your payout account. In that case, we will transfer your earnings directly to your PayPal account. For this transfer, PayPal charges fees. These fees will now change due to the new transfer mode:
With individual payouts (before 04/01/2019), you had to pay the fees to PayPal yourself. With mass payments (from 04/01/2019), Digistore24 will now cover the transfer fees, which will then be deducted from your payout amount.
This has two important benefits for you:
- You no longer have to worry about PayPal fees, as Digistore24 will take care of this for you from 04/01/2019.
- By introducing mass payments, you will incur lower fees in most cases.

About PayPal payout fees
What are the fees?
Normally, 2% of the payout amount is charged.
However, there are two cases where a fixed amount is charged:
Case 1: higher amounts in the European Economic Area
In the European Economic Area (EEA), the fee is reduced for amounts over
600 € / 800 CHF / 700 $:
| Payout amount | Fee |
| Up to 600 € Up to 800 CHF Up to 700 $ |
2% of the payout amount |
| Over 600 € | 12 € |
| Over 800 CHF | 16 CHF |
| Over 700 $ | 14 $ |
Case 2: higher amounts in other countries
In countries that are not part of the European Economic Area, the fee is reduced for amounts over
3,500 € / 5,000 CHF / 4,500 $:
| Payout amount | Fee |
| Up to 3,500 € Up to 5,000 CHF Up to 4,500 $ |
2% of the payout amount |
| Over 3,500 € | 70 € |
| Over 5,000 CHF | 100 CHF |
| Over 4,500 $ | 90 $ |
Where can I see the fees?
You can see your fees in the invoice of your payout PDFs under fees for additional services.
When are these fees charged?
The fees are only charged if you have set PayPal as your payout method for your payout account.
It is completely irrelevant how your customers pay.
Examples
Example 1: regular situation
You have earned 540 € that can be paid out to you. Based on your payout account, we can determine that you are within the European Economic Area. Since you have set PayPal as the payout method for your payout account, we will transfer your payout amount to your PayPal account.
Since none of the special cases apply (because you are receiving less than 600 € within the EEA), you pay a PayPal fee of 2% of the payout amount, which is 10.80 €.
Example 2: high-priced product within the European Economic Area
You have earned 1,700 $ that can be paid out to you. Based on your payout account, we can determine that you are within the European Economic Area. Since you have set PayPal as the payout method for your payout account, we will transfer your payout amount to your PayPal account.
Since you are selling within the European Economic Area and the payout amount exceeds 700 $, the PayPal fee is 14 $.
Example 3: high-priced product outside the European Economic Area
You have earned 8,900 CHF that can be paid out to you. Based on your payout account, we can determine that you are outside the European Economic Area. Since you have set PayPal as the payout method for your payout account, we will transfer your payout amount to your PayPal account.
Since you are selling outside the European Economic Area and the payout amount exceeds 5,000 CHF, the PayPal fee is 100 CHF.
