You can set up two-factor authentication (2FA) on two devices. If you can no longer log in using one device, e.g. because you've lost it, you can still access your Digistore24 account using the other. Without a second device, you would have to get your 2FA access restored in order to be able to access your account again.
Explanation of terms: primary and backup
- The first device you set up is automatically your primary device. This is the default device you use to log into your Digistore24 account.
- Once you've set up your primary device, you can set up a second device. This serves as a backup in case you can no longer log in using your primary device.
Notes on setting up
There are various methods available to you for 2FA, e.g. using the Digistore24 app or an authenticator app. You set up these methods on devices such as your mobile phone, tablet, or laptop.
You can use the same method for the primary device and the backup device. For example, you could set up an authenticator app on your mobile phone (primary) and on your tablet (backup).
It's crucial that you use different devices so that you can still log in if you lose one. The process for setting up a method is largely the same for both devices. You'll find all the information you need in the following articles:
Notes on logging in
Once you've set up a device for 2FA, after login with your Digistore24 password you will see another login window where you will log in using your 2FA device.
As soon as you have set up a backup device, the Use backup device button will appear in this login window. Click on this if you want to log in using your backup device.
