Create trust badges

The trust badge enhances the customer's trust and sense of security. It is particularly important for US products: Without the inclusion of a trust badge on your sales page and your thank you page, your product cannot be approved.

What does a trust badge look like?

There are three different trust badge types:

What is the earnings disclaimer?

By earnings disclaimer we mean the following sentence:

“These earnings are not representative for the average participants. The average participant will earn significantly less or no money at all through this product or service.”

It must be displayed in the sales page footer if you want to have a product approved for the USA that is to be considered an online business development product.

Why is that?

Product liability rules are much stricter in the US than in Europe. Therefore, product liability lawsuits are much more frequent and often result in exorbitant damages for companies.

In particular, the manufacturers of online business development products such as coaching sessions, which are designed to help customers earn more money, are often victims of such lawsuits, as it is common practice in this industry to tell success stories. For example, it can happen that end customers who do not have the same success claim that they understood that they would be promised the same success when buying the product - and often even win the court's right.

To be on the safe side and protect you against such judgments, the inclusion of the earnings disclaimer in the trust badge "Sales Page Footer" is sufficient.

Create trust badge

Create Sales Page Badge

  1. In the Vendor view, go to Account > Conversion Tools.
  2. Switch to the tab Trust badges.
  3. Now click on the button Create trust badge.
  4. For Name, enter a name for your trust badge. This name is only visible to you.
  5. For Type, select Sales page badge from the dropdown menu.
  6. Now select the Position. Depending on your selection, the Digistore24 badge for your sales page badge will look different.
  7. If you select Yes for Fixed at the edge of the screen, the badge is always displayed at the corresponding position (top/bottom/corners) - regardless of whether the page visitor scrolls to another position. If you select No, the badge will not move: it will stay at the corresponding position at the top or bottom edge of your page.
  8. Select one of the colors for the Color scheme for trust badge.

  9. Select the Color Scheme for footer to choose the color of the footer.
  10. If you are selling an investment or finance product, make sure to select Yes for Display earnings disclaimer.
  11. For Language, choose whether the trust badge should be in German, English, or Spanish.
  12. Finally, click on Save and Update preview.

Create Thank You Page Badge

  1. In the Vendor view, go to Account > Conversion Tools.
  2. Switch to the tab Trust badges.
  3. Now click on the button Create trust badge.
  4. For Name, enter a name for your trust badge. This name is only visible to you.
  5. For Type, select Thank you page badge from the dropdown menu.
  6. If you select Yes for Fixed at the edge of the screen, the badge is always displayed at the corresponding position (top/bottom/corners) - regardless of whether the page visitor scrolls to another position. If you select No, the badge will not move: it will stay at the corresponding position at the top or bottom edge of your page.

Embed trust badge on sales page/thank you page

Now you will see a code in the HTML code field. You have to embed this code on your sales page/thank you page.

Once you've done this, you have completed the process.

What does my site have to look like so that my US product can get approved?

To sell your product in the USA, your sales page and thank you page must each display an earnings disclaimer.

Here is how to ensure that the earnings disclaimer is displayed:

  1. Add a sales page badge to your sales page. This will automatically display a footer.
  2. For the sales page badge, select Yes for Display earnings disclaimer.
  3. Add a thank you page badge to your thank you page. This will automatically display a footer.
  4. For the thank you page badge, select Yes for Display earnings disclaimer.
