The original price is a useful feature when you want to show your customers what your product is actually worth - and how much they save by buying now.
With the original price, you set a higher reference price that appears as a strikethrough above your current price on the order form. Your customers see at a glance: this is an offer.
Benefits:
- Higher conversion: A visible price reduction increases the perceived value of your offer and can lead to more sales.
- Consistency with your sales page: If you already use a strikethrough price on your sales page, you can carry that presentation over to the order form seamlessly.
- No technical effort: You enter the original price and the price - Digistore24 takes care of the correct display.
You set the original price per payment plan. For installments and subscriptions, you can even set separate original prices for the first payment and the follow-up payments.
How it works
- You open your product for editing and go to the "Payment plans" tab.
- You add a new payment plan or edit an existing one.
- You activate the original price and enter the higher amount.
- You save - and the original price appears as a strikethrough on the order form.
Setting up the original price
Open the product for editing
- Go to My products > Product list.
- Click the pencil icon next to the product you want to edit.
- Switch to the Payment plans tab.
Edit or create a payment plan
Add a new payment plan or edit an existing one.
-
Add a new payment plan:
- Scroll to the Add payment plan section.
- Set up the plan (currency, number of payments, amount, etc.).
For more information on setting up a payment plan in general, see: Set up pay plan and product price
-
Edit an existing payment plan:
- Scroll all the way down to Payment plans.
- Click the pencil icon next to the plan you want to edit.
Activate the original price and enter the amounts
- Next to Display original price, click yes. The fields for the original price appear.
- In the Original price field, enter the higher amount that should appear as a strikethrough on the order form.
Tip
For the strikethrough price to have its effect, the original price must be higher than your current price. Otherwise, the price reduction won't make sense to your customers.
Original price for installments and subscriptions
For installment plans and subscriptions, you can set the original price separately for the first payment and for the follow-up payments:
- Original first payment: The higher amount shown as a strikethrough above your first payment.
- Original follow-up payments: The higher amount shown as a strikethrough above your follow-up payments (or your recurring subscription payments).
You can fill in both fields or just one - depending on where you want to make the added value visible.
Save the payment plan
- If you are creating a new payment plan: Click Add payment plan.
- If you are editing a payment plan: Click Update payment plan.
Your original price is set up. The strikethrough original price now appears above your current price on the order form.
Note
If you added a new payment plan, check whether your existing payment plans still fit. For example, if you previously had a single payment and now added another single payment with an original price, you have two single payments in the product. Delete the plan you no longer need, or set Active to no in its settings, so your customers only see the options you actually want to offer.
Good to know
What happens when a customer redeems a voucher?
When a customer redeems a voucher on the order form, the voucher discount is deducted from your current price - not from the original price. The original price remains visible as a strikethrough reference price.
Where is the original price displayed?
The original price appears as a strikethrough on the order form - directly above your current price. It is not displayed automatically on your sales page, since you maintain that yourself. Make sure the prices on your sales page and the order form are consistent.
Do I need to create the discount manually?
No. As soon as you enter an original price, Digistore24 automatically creates the corresponding price reduction in the background. You don't need to set up a voucher or discount code.
