Digistore24 costs in the USA

In this article, you'll learn what costs you may incur when selling via Digistore24 Inc.

Regular costs

Registering for and using Digistore24 Inc. is free of charge. For every sale you make via Digistore24, Digistore24 receives a margin from you.

At Digistore24 Inc., the Digistore24 margin is as follows:

  • The regular margin for all products is 7.9% + $1 per sale.
  • If the total number of chargebacks for your products exceeds 1%, the margin increases to 9.9% + $1 per sale.
  • For Free-Plus-Shipping books – free books for which customers only pay shipping charges of less than $10 – the margin is 7.9% + $0.75 per sale.

Additional costs

Additional costs may arise if your customers return the purchased product or initiate chargebacks for payments already made.

Returns

Sometimes customers return your product and receive a refund.

  • For refunds of $10 or less, we charge a $0.75 fee per return.
  • For refunds over $10, we charge a $1 fee per return.

Chargebacks

Sometimes customers initiate a chargeback of the already paid amount via their bank. This results in a cost of $50 per chargeback for you.
For payments made via PayPal or credit card, Digistore24 offers "chargeback prevention" in cooperation with partners Ethoca and Verifi. If a customer instructs their bank to issue a chargeback, we will be notified and can arrange a refund within 72 hours. This reduces the cost to you to $40.

Costs for payouts

When Digistore24 transfers your earnings to you, it is called a payout. Payouts may incur additional costs if they are made via international wire transfer to a foreign account, to a PayPal account, or via ACH payment.

International transfers

If you have selected a foreign payout account in your Digistore24 account, the payout will be made via international wire transfer. A $40 fee will be charged for each international wire transfer.

The payout threshold for international transfers is €/$/£250. In order for your earnings to be transferred to an international payout account, the payout amount must be able to cover at least €/$/£250 + a $40 international transfer fee. If your earnings are lower than that, your money will remain in your Digistore24 account until you reach the payout threshold by making further sales.

PayPal or ACH payment

If you have selected a PayPal account as the payout account in your Digistore24 account, or an account to which you want to transfer funds via ACH payment, additional fees will apply.

For payouts to a PayPal account in the US, there is a $2.50 fee per transfer. For payouts to a PayPal account outside the US, there is a $20 fee per transfer.

There is a fee of $2.50 per transfer for payouts via ACH payment.

Tips to reduce fees

To save on fees, we recommend the following steps:

  • Reduce the number of payout dates. Instead of having four transfers per month, you could limit your payouts to once per month.
  • Increase the payout amounts. If your earnings regularly exceed the payout threshold of €/$/£250, you could increase the payout amount, e.g., to €/$/£500.

Costs for the download vault

Digistore24 provides a unique service with the download vault. Your customers can download their files in a simple way and it is guaranteed to be virus-free. Also, you do not have to worry about technical issues or the risk of digital distribution. To cover the costs, Digistore24 calculates 0.25 € for each started gigabyte and per purchase. Only one fee per customer will be charged. Further downloads by the customer and also the upload are free of charge.
