NoteThis article is intended for vendors.
If you use an opt-in form or an autoresponder, it is advisable for you as a vendor to set up multi-device affiliate attribution.
The reason is that affiliate attribution via cookies can no longer take place if the potential buyer
- uses different devices (e.g., smartphone, tablet) for the click on the promolink and for the product purchase
- and additionally uses different browsers.
Example
Registration for a webinar via opt-in form
- The prospect (potential buyer) clicks on the affiliate's promolink via smartphone.
- The prospect is redirected to your sales page. There they enter their details into your opt-in form for a webinar.
- They receive the webinar link from you via email. They open this link not on their smartphone, but on their computer.
- At the end of the webinar, the prospect buys your product. However, there is no attribution.
Solution:
With multi-device affiliate attribution, it is possible to accurately track which purchase was referred by which affiliate, even if a device switch occurs, by transmitting the affiliate ID.
NoteYour benefits as a vendor include:
- Making the marketing of your products more attractive and attracting top affiliates.
- Your affiliates are more satisfied overall, as multi-device affiliate attribution ensures correct attribution even with device changes. Bonus: they recommend you and your products.
How to activate multi-device affiliate attribution
For multi-device affiliate attribution to automatically transmit the affiliate ID to the autoresponder, it is important that the following attribution data is transferred to Digistore24:
- Affiliate ID
- Campaign key (if available)
- Tracking key (if available)
Choose one of the following options to enable multi-device affiliate attribution.
Option 1 - Use the multi-device feature in Klick-Tipp "Enterprise"
If you use the Enterprise version of Klick-Tipp, you can use the "Activate Digistore24 multi-device tracking" feature when setting up your opt-in form.
All further information and a guide can be found here.
Option 2 - Transfer attribution data to autoresponder
In this option, the affiliate uses a content link to direct the potential buyer to your opt-in page. The attribution data is automatically transferred to invisible fields in your opt-in form. This way, the data is saved by your autoresponder along with the other data that the potential buyer entered in the opt-in form (name, email address, etc.).
When you send an email with a configured product link to this customer via your autoresponder, the attribution data is automatically passed on to Digistore24.

Option 3 - Link attribution data to the customer's email address (hash)
In this option, the affiliate sends the potential buyer to your opt-in page via a configured link. If they sign up for your newsletter, their email address is automatically linked to the attribution data.

Option 4 - Manual technical solutions
The following solutions, which require some technical effort, are available:
- Using a tracking code, you can determine the affiliate ID on a landing page and read it via JavaScript or store it in an HTML form (e.g., an opt-in form). More information can be found here.
- Using an API function, you can store affiliate and tracking data for email addresses. More information can be found here.
