On Digistore24, vendors can sell shipping products in addition to their digital products. This option is limited to appropriate product groups, such as CDs, DVDs or books that are related to the theme of the digital product. The following items are particularly suitable: versions of digital products on a data carrier or print editions of E-books. The following items are not suitable to be sold on Digistore24: electrical appliances, toiletries, furniture etc. that have no relation to a digital product. Just like with digital products, Digistore24 must grant approval beforehand.

1. Setting up shipping products on Digistore24

Setting up physical products is similar to setting up digital products. The only difference between the two product groups is in relation to the product type. Therefore, when setting up your physical product, use the guide on how to set up digital products, but in the Product information window, select the option Deliverable for the Product type. Alternatively, you can also change the product type afterwards:

1. In the vendor view, go to Product setup > Product configuration.
2. Click on the pen icon of the respective product.
3. In the Product information area, select the option Deliverable for the Product type.
4. Finally, click on Save at the bottom.

Now the postal address of your customer will be automatically requested when they access the order form.

2. Delivery of physical products

Digistore24 does not handle the delivery of physical products. In principle, Digistore24 is not a delivery or a fulfillment company. However, you can easily connect a third-party provider to our system that will handle the delivery for you. There are two options for the automatic information transmission to your delivery partner: via email or via an API interface.

a) Possible shipping locations

You can ship your physical products worldwide. However, which countries you're allowed to ship from depends on the Digistore24 reseller.

Example:
If you've concluded a contract with Digistore24 GmbH, you may only ship your physical products from Germany.

b) Possible shipping options

Option A: Automation of the information transmission via email

1. In the vendor view, go to Product setup > Product configuration.
2. Click on the pen icon of the respective product.
3. Click on the tab Notifications.
4. In the Notify by email window, enter the email address of your delivery partner for the desired fields (About sales, About refunds, About chargebacks). You can also enter multiple email addresses.
5. In the Copy notification settings window directly below, you can transfer the entered settings to other products. Then, click on Copy.
6. Finally, click Save.

Now your delivery partner will receive an email with the delivery information for each order.

For VAT reasons, it is not permitted to ship shipping products from outside of Germany via Digistore24 since the change in VAT law of 1.1.15. More information can be found here.

Option B: Direct connection of fulfillment providers

You can automatically send information to selected fulfillment providers via an IPN connection. A list of supported providers can be found here. Additionally, you can create an IPN connection for each reseller. This way, you know from which country an order was placed and you can decide accordingly from which country you ship your products. Option C: Delivery as CSV file via email or FTP

In a CSV file, multiple orders can be shipped in a single file. For example, you can inform your shipping service provider about all incoming orders on a daily basis. To set up such automation, click here.

Option D: Delivery as XML file via email or FTP

In contrast to delivery via CSV file, delivery via XML file sends a separate file for each order. To set up such automation, click here.

3. Creating delivery notes

If you sell physical products via Digistore24, you can attach a delivery note to the shipment so that the customer knows the return address in the event of a return.

Step-by-step guide

First of all, you need to upload a header image for your delivery note:

1. In the vendor view, go to Product setup > Images.
2. Click on the button Add new image.
3. For Image type, select the option Order form header.
4. Upload the image file.
5. Finally, click Save.

Now you can set up your delivery note:

1. In the vendor view, go to Product setup > Delivery notes.
2. Click on the button Create delivery note.
3. For Name in the General section, enter an internal name for your delivery note. This name is only visible to you.
4. For Header image in the Header window, select a header image.
5. For Message 1, you can enter who the shipment was sent by.
6. In the Return address window, enter the return address.
7. In the following windows, you can optionally add additional messages.
8. At the end, please click on Save.

Finally, link the product you are selling with the delivery note:

1. In the menu, go to Product setup > Product configuration.
2. Click on the pen icon for the product that is to be linked with the delivery note you’ve just created.
3. For Delivery note in the Product information window, choose the delivery note that you have created.
4. Scroll to the bottom and click on Save.

Now you can download your delivery note in order to attach it to your delivery product:

1. In the vendor view, go to Reports > Deliveries.
2. Click on the yellow sheet icon of the respective order.

You can now download the delivery note as a PDF. Alternatively, you can export all delivery notes via CSV. In this case, the delivery notes will be found in the CSV table, also available as PDF links.
